The Commissioner welcomes the announcement of a new round of grants to support professional development and innovation in the water sector. 

Applications for the Our Catchments Our Communities Leadership Development Grants opened 1 May and will support the next generation of leaders in water management across Victoria.

The Our Catchments Our Communities Leadership Development Grants are a $120,000 investment in innovation, which keeps water management leaders highly skilled and promotes diversity in leadership roles across Victoria.

The grants will be awarded annually to leaders in the priority areas within the government’s water plan, Water for Victoria. [BROKEN LINK]

Over the next four years, funding of up to $10,000 will be provided for travel, study, research or other forms of professional development in the following categories:

  • Innovation - new approaches and knowledge to address contemporary issues in integrated catchment management.
  • Aboriginal leadership - recognising and supporting Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians as leaders.
  • Women in leadership - improving diversity and inclusion the workplace.

Nominations for the Our Catchments Our Communities Leadership Development Grants open today and close 24 May, 2017. 

A further $90,000 is also being spent to support inclusivity and diversity in the water sector. The inaugural Women in Leadership Program has already had a number of participants become Fellows of the prestigious Peter Cullen Trust. [BROKEN LINK]

The grant recipients will be announced at the inaugural State Catchment Summit on 29 June 2017.
