For the first time since it was established in 1971, from 1 July 2018 EPA Victoria will have a governing board. The Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability, Dr Gillian Sparkes, welcomed board members announced this week and said, 'the establishment of a EPA as a statutory authority with a governing board to deliver the step change that Victorians sought through the EPA Inquiry, is an historic step.'

The Commissioner also congratulated Ms Cheryl Batagol who has been Chair of the EPA since 2009, on her reappointment.
