To celebrate Sea Week, and as part of our special series exploring the 13 key themes of the Victorian State of the Environment 2018 Report, this week we highlight our chapter on Marine and Coastal Environments. We review the Recommendation that builds on the recommendations of the Victorian Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability's State of the Bays 2016 Report and centres on an expansion of ecosystem monitoring programs beyond Port Phillip Bay, Western Port, Gippsland Lakes and Victoria’s system of Marine National Parks and Marine Sanctuaries to cover the entire state and out to Victoria’s three nautical mile jurisdiction.

To find out more about Victoria's Marine and Coastal Environments, have a look at our Indicator Report Card Assessment which summarises the findings of this chapter
