Migratory shorebirds

There has been a declining trend in the number of migratory shorebirds visiting the Victorian coast, heavily influenced by the loss of habitats along their flyways, especially around the Yellow Sea in China. Numbers are also affected by periods of drought and high rainfall within Australia, which alters wetlands extent.
