Annual production of wood products from state forests compared to sustainable harvest levels

Total timber annual production from state forests has been gradually decreasing. Decreasing sawlog production, seen over the past 20 years, has continued. Production fell by more than 50% between 1996-97 and 2016-17. Pulpwood has followed a similar trend. This will deteriorate further, as age class distribution of ash forests are highly imbalanced.
