The OCES Science Team had a wonderful time hosting a workshop at the Victorian Marine and Coastal Forum on the 14 June 2019. Workshop participants learnt about the results from the Marine and Coastal Environment chapter of the Victorian State of the Environment 2018 Report. This was followed by a roundtable discussion on the future development of the inaugural Victorian State of the Marine and Coastal Environment Report, a legislative requirement in the Marine and Coastal Act 2018 and the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability Act 2003.

Workshop participants focussed their discussion on four topics:

1. Variances in regional data quality and results

2. Identification of major themes for the report

3. Data sources

4. Preferred reporting formats

Feedback from this workshop will help inform the approach for delivering the State of the Marine and Coastal Environment Report.  Further engagement activities with a range of stakeholders will occur as part of OCES processes for establishing the reporting framework during the 2019 - 2024 cycle.
