Climate Change Impacts: 13 Themes in 13 Weeks Series

From the Commissioner

To coincide with the United Nations Climate Action Summit 2019: A Race We Can Win in New York, we are highlighting our chapter on Climate Change Impacts in the Victorian State of the Environment 2018 Report. Climate Change Impacts is one of the 13 key themes of the State of the Environment 2018 Report. This report also includes the Commissioner’s Recommendation that centres on improving localised climate projections (particularly in agricultural regions).

The State of the Environment 2018 Report highlights the extent of Climate Change Impacts and the urgency required to mitigate and adapt to its influence. While climate change along with population growth and other pressures are factored in to all assessments, the #SoE findings highlight the need for regional climate projections at a finer spatial resolution and more accurate rainfall projections, to improve management outcomes and the need to track the impact of energy emissions reduction to meet interim targets set under the Climate Change Act 2017
